Pick up as you go

The cyclone that almost drew Myanmar out of the map just shows that mother earth is giving the most obvious signs and that death is just as ready to take away even the most innocent lives. And death is bagging more lives, with the delay in rescue and relief operations, the homeless go day by day without water or food or medicine. Plus there are still diplomatic issues about Myanmar’s “enemy” countries.

It is so unfortunate we have to experience tragedies and lives have to be taken in order for us to extend our help and realize that we have a sick earth. There have been a lot of documentaries about the effects of global warming, if this latest wrath of nature will not make us realize to use hybrid cars or preserve paper use, then I don’t know what will.

Now we’ve grown heftily aware of the Amstetten horror and that of Josef Fritzl’s crimes. More and more people have contributed to complete the puzzle but it seems only Fritzl’s stories can paint a more succinct picture than ever before, and albeit even more shocking.

One of the basement offsprings, Lisa was said to be a display of the man’s twisted genius. On May 19, 1993 a box was left at the Fritzl’s front door with a child and a letter that said, “Dear parents, I am leaving you my little daughter Lisa. Take good care of my little girl.”

The letter had come from his daughter Elisabeth who had run away and joined a sect. Or so was Josef Fritzl’s excuse to others when asked about the young lady that had been last seen when she was 12 –- which was the age she had been kept down in the basement to become her own father’s sex slave.

All the while, the submissive mother Rosemarie was convinced that Elisabeth indeed ran away from home and is in good hands, as the letter stated, “I beg you not to look for me, because I am doing well.” all the while suffering underneath their own home that Fritzl carefully crafted, with walls so thick not a single sound could be heard.

Josef Fritzl even took some of Elisabeth’s notebooks from school to authenticate the handwriting on the letter that came along with the box that carried little Lisa to process the adoption papers. Little did everyone know that this was only a part of the entire 24 years’ worth of suffering and secrets both Josef kept in that man-made dungeon, being the concrete specialist that he is.

Years have passed and a number of incidents of babies being dropped at their front door have been happening for over 3 times and yet no one even managed to figure out that this was all part of Fritzl’s evil plan.

“It’s the kind of thing he would do,” when Franz Haider, 58, was asked about what he may know about the crime. Haider worked next to Fritzl for three months in 1969 at a local cement and building supply company, Zehetner Baustoffhandel und Betonwerk.
He says Fritzl never mentioned anything about having children, nor did he speak anything about his private life. All Haider knew was that he was married and that was it.

Considering that was the case, it wouldn’t be too hard to expect someone like Fritzl to keep a basement and people in it, and more so, the darkest of secrets of anyone recorded by far. The town of Amstetten remain shocked as nobody from the neighborhood were able to point out any single instance that might’ve alleviated Elisabeth’s suffering together with her 3 children below ground. Apparently even the kids were witness to their mother being raped by their grandfather several times.

It started the night Elisabeth attempted to run away after being raped by Josef but was not successful enough to do so. Nobody was around and Elisabeth couldn’t tell anyone about it. He had dragged her down and kept her in the basement since then. Many sense the fear that Josef Fritzl was facing, it was one where a secret slowly emerges that only time has the key to reveal. This pushed him further enough to control the circumstances that got him to build a parallel world no one was able to detect.
